For over 10 years, Ascension has participated in the annual American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention. As the largest gathering of architects and design professionals in the United States, Ascension has the opportunity to demonstrate our wheelchair lifts to these professionals. Architects have the opportunity to learn more about accessibility solutions and to consider specifying a wheelchair lift for future projects.Discover Our Wheelchair Lifts
What is the American Institute of Architects?
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention is the largest gathering of architects and design professionals in the United States.
Why do we attend?
Ascension chooses to exhibit at the AIA National Convention in order to promote our wheelchair lifts among architects and spec writers, who commonly use tower lifts in their projects. Attending such shows gives our Ascension Sales and Engineering personnel the opportunity to discuss accessibility solutions with the wide range of attendees. We are also able to demonstrate how an Ascension lift operates and even let attendees use the lift to see how it works.
Recap of the 2015 AIA Expo
This year’s show was located in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center, which also happens to be an Ascension customer. We displayed a portable Protégé 5442P lift with our logo sandblasted on the lower gate.
Overall attending the 2015 AIA Expo was a success. We were able to meet and speak with many architects, accessibility consultants and elevator contractors about Ascension’s lifts as well as our new Dealer Network. During this show, we also had an opportunity to start discussions with architects about our new 14-foot lift that should meet most of our customer’s inquiries to service applications over 60”.
Prior to the start of the exhibition at the AIA show, we were able to conduct a site visit with another Ascension customer at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. We were able to meet with Vic Wilder, Assistant Director of Engineering at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and they have owned a Virtuoso 4860P since March 2007. Their Virtuoso wheelchair lift was set up in front of a portable stage for an ADA Symposium event.
A highlight from this year’s convention was getting to listen to Keynote Speaker Former President Bill Clinton, which was definitely the most popular show event, with a “packed the house” of about 10,000 seats.
President Clinton spoke about the Clinton Foundation which follows “the mission to improve global health, strengthen economies, promote health and wellness, and protect the environment” and the foundations ongoing efforts.
